What is a standard porta potty?
A standard porta potty is a single-user, non-flush portable toilet with a 60-gallon holding tank, a urinal, a hand-sanitizer dispenser and a translucent roof for daylight. Standard units are the default for Temple job sites, backyard parties and church events because they are light, compact and serviced on a fixed weekly route.

The 43.5-inch width matters at backyard gates. Most Temple side gates are 48 inches, which leaves just enough room for two people to walk the unit through. Narrower gates mean the unit goes in the driveway or on the street side.
When is a standard unit the wrong choice?
A standard porta potty is the wrong choice when guests expect a flush and a sink, when a wheelchair user will attend, or when the event runs longer than 8 hours for 100+ guests. In those cases a deluxe flushable unit, an accessible unit, or extra units keep lines short and smells down.
- Weddings and formal dinners → deluxe flushable unit with sink
- Public events and parks → add at least one wheelchair-accessible unit
- Food served → add a hand-wash station
What does a standard unit look like on site?
Standard units arrive in blue or gray with a translucent roof. Inside are a molded seat, a urinal on the side wall, a sanitizer dispenser and a toilet paper holder with spare rolls. The photos below are units from our own fleet.
Standard porta potty rental questions
Is a standard porta potty enough for a backyard party?
A standard porta potty is enough for most backyard parties. One unit handles about 50 guests for 4 hours. Add a second unit for 100 guests, or when beer and other drinks are served.
Will a porta potty fit through my backyard gate?
A standard unit is 43.5 inches wide and 91 inches tall. It fits through a 48-inch gate on its side or walked upright with no overhead beam. Measure the gate and tell dispatch when you book.
Does the standard unit have hand sanitizer?
Every standard unit has a hand-sanitizer dispenser that is refilled at each service. For running water, add a two-sink hand-wash station beside the unit.
Can I choose the color?
Standard units come in blue or gray from the Temple yard. Pink units are available for some events when booked a week ahead. Color does not change the price.
How long can I keep a standard unit?
Event rentals cover up to 3 days. Job-site rentals renew every 28 days with weekly service until you call for pickup. Many remodel jobs keep a unit for 2 to 6 months.
